Tim founded trees associates in 2003. For ten years previously, he had worked, with Brita von Schoenaich, as a partner of Schoenaich Rees Landscape Architects. Tim has a strong background in plantsmanship. His gardening career began with a five year stint working in the Oxford University Botanical Garden, followed by study at the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew, where he graduated in 1982.
After he left Kew, Tim won a travel scholarship to collect alpine plants & orchids in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. He returned to the UK to work on the restoration of a Gertrude Jekyll-designed garden in the Cotswolds. It was at this juncture that he met the garden designer and writer Rosemary Verey, who became an important professional influence, friend and mentor. Tim has also served as Course Director for Garden Design at the Inchbald School of Design, London, where he established the first full time one year course for garden design in the UK.
Tim has worked on landscapes and gardens across the UK and abroad - primarily in France, Italy and the Mediterranean, as well as the USA. His work has been featured in a number of publications.
When not working, Tim enjoys (in no particular order) walking his dog Mango on Wormwood Scrubs, gardening under Italian skies, and listening to Opera.
